Health Promotion and Education

The Orange County Health Department’s Health Promotion and Education team helps people learn how to live healthy, prevent disease and injuries, and find local services. We partner with schools, community groups, and organizations across Orange County.

Health promotion and education services

Health educators share information about healthy living, local health care services, and ways to prevent disease and injury. We can help your organization by:

  • Collecting and reviewing publicly available health information
  • Creating health communication campaigns
  • Hosting health trainings
  • Planning and reviewing health programs
  • Attending health and resource fairs

Health Department programs we support

  • Board of Health
The Board of Health makes local health policies and decisions. They also hear appeals if there is a disagreement with a Health Department decision.
  • Healthy Carolinians of Orange County
This group includes local organizations and community members who work together to improve health and wellness. They also create the Orange County Community Health Assessments and other health reports.
  • Quit Nicotine for Good!
We offer group classes and one-on-one counseling to help residents quit using nicotine products like cigarettes, vapes, and cigars.
  • Smoke-Free Orange County
Most public places in Orange County are smoke-free. Health educators share information about this local rule and help address complaints.
