— The Orange County Health Department and UNC SPARC (Special Pathogens Response Center) invite healthcare providers and community partners to Bringing Immunity to the Community: Measles Updates for Partners and Providers. This free event will be held in Hillsborough on Friday, May 30, 2025, and will focus on strengthening the community’s readiness and response to measles outbreaks. The deadline to register for the in-person event is Friday, May 23, 2025. The morning presentations will also stream live on Facebook Live the day of the event.

Dr. Erica Pettigrew, MD, JD, MPH, will discuss the current measles landscape and community health implications. Dr. Pettigrew serves as Medical Director of the Orange County Health Department, Occupational Health Director at UNC Hospitals, and Associate Professor at the University of North Carolina. - 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. – Best-Practice Responses
A panel of experts will share strategies and approaches to managing measles cases and improving outbreak responses. - 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. – Tabletop Exercise
Attendees will engage in a hands-on practice session designed to simulate real-world measles response scenarios. - 11:30 a.m. – Noon – Wrap-Up
