These programs provide support and information to families who are on Medicaid. All services are free.

Services for families with young children

Breastfeeding support

We provide breastfeeding education and support to new parents in Orange County. Services are available at home, at our Hillsborough clinic, or at Piedmont Health Services. Call (919) 245-2437.

Care management for at-risk children (CMARC)

This program help families with young children who need extra support to stay healthy and thrive.

We work with families with children from birth through age 5 who may have:

  • Been in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Been born early or with low birth weight
  • Special health or developmental needs
  • High stress levels at home
  • Little family or community support

Care management for high-risk pregnancies (CMHRP)

This program is for pregnant women with Medicaid who may be at risk for problems such as low-birth-weight babies. Nurses and social workers (care managers) work with doctors to support a healthy pregnancy. Call (919) 245-2445.

Health and behavioral intervention (HBI)

We offer counseling for pregnant and postpartum women on Medicaid who have serious social or emotional needs. Services may be provided in the clinic, a doctor’s office, or the woman’s home. Call (919) 245-2437.

Postpartum and newborn home visiting

We offer new parents a one-time home visit after they leave the hospital. During our visit, our nurse will check on you and your baby. We can 

  • Provide information about family planning 
  • Answer questions about infant care 
  • Help you schedule medical appointments, and 
  • Make sure your home is safe for baby

Triple P (Positive Parenting)

If your child has just started having tantrums, is refusing to go to bed, or is fighting with siblings, we may be able to help. We offer private counseling where you can get tips to manage this behavior. You or your child must be on Medicaid. Call (919) 245-2432 or (919) 245-2437.
