The property tax rates shown are for the 2025 tax year.
Your Orange County tax bill amount varies depending on where you live within the county. A rate code is assigned according to where you live, and it identifies the combination of taxes that make up your tax bill. Your bill may include:
- City Tax
- County Tax
- Fees
- Fire District Tax
- Special District Tax
County Rate
The county rate is determined by the Board of Commissioners. Each city rate is determined by its City Governing Board. In addition, there are fees that may be assessed and included on your bill:
- Solid Waste Programs Fee
- Chapel Hill Storm Water Management Fee
- Hillsborough Storm Water Fee
- Carrboro Stormwater Utility Fee
