Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

VITA is an Orange County Volunteer Connect 55+ (VC 55+) volunteer program that provides FREE federal and state income tax preparation to eligible individuals with low-to-middle income, regardless of age or county of residence. Our tax season begins February 6th and runs until April 15th.  We begin making appointments on January 15th.

Two Paths to FREE Income Tax Assistance

  1. ONE-STOP VITA:  Make an appointment and get your taxes done in a single visit
  2. DROP-OFF VITA:  Drop off your documents & return to pick up your completed returns

One-Stop VITA:

This Is our traditional approach.  You will bring in your tax documents, meet with a certified volunteer preparer, and complete your tax returns.  Most can finish in one visit which may last up to 2 hours.  Returns can be e-filed with no fees.

STEP 2: Use this Book Now Button to make an appointment online or call us at 919-245-4242.  View our Sites and Schedules.  We do accept walk-ins, but service depends on availability and is not guaranteed.  If you are filing a joint return, both spouses must be present.

STEP 3: Review this What to Bring document and gather your tax documents so that we can complete your returns in one visit. 

Step 4:  Plan to arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment to complete required IRS paperwork, or you can download, complete and print the required paperwork prior to your visit.
