Donate Food

Toy Chest

The Toy Chest is open to all families with children below 200% of poverty in Orange County. These parents and grandparents make difficult decisions every day about how to keep the children in their care clothed and fed. During the holidays, children spend more time at home and other programs like free or reduced school lunches are unavailable.

Therefore, families shopping at the Toy Chest have an opportunity to pick up a bag of groceries that may include items for their holiday meal or healthy snacks for their children. Please consider making a donation of non-perishable food items or grocery gift cards to help in this effort. No child should go hungry, especially during the holidays.

How to Donate Food

Step 1

Collect or purchase unopened, unexpired non-perishable food items or grocery gift cards. Not sure what to get? Here is a list of needed food items (PDF).

Step 2

Bring food to either office location of the Department of Social Services during regular business hours by December 9th. Please deliver any gift cards directly to staff.

Step 3

Be sure to leave your name and address for a receipt. Remember, all donations are tax deductible.
