Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) is partnering with BISSELL Pet Foundation for the Summer National Empty the Shelters™ adoption event July 8 - 31. During this adoption special, adoption fees for most cats and dogs at OCAS are drastically reduced to only $50. Nearly 400 shelters are participating nationwide, and BISSELL Pet foundation sponsors this event to help shelter pets find good homes. This lifesaving event began in 2016 with a goal of encouraging more families to choose adoption. More than 253,000 pets have found loving homes since its inception.

"BISSELL Pet Foundation's Summer National Empty the Shelters event is a crucial opportunity for people to make a real difference in their community through adoption,“ said Cathy Bissell, Founder of BISSELL Pet Foundation. “Every single adoption saves a life and creates space to save another. Please adopt and give a pet a chance it might otherwise not have. If you can't adopt, fostering saves lives when shelters are full. Deserving pets across the country are counting on all of us.”

Anyone interested in adopting may stop by the shelter during operating hours. No appointment is needed to view available pets. The shelter opens at noon, Monday through Saturday, and is located at 1601 Eubanks Road in Chapel Hill. For more information about available pets, visiting the facility, and adopting pets, please visit www.orangecountync.gov/287/Available-Pets or call the Adoption Desk at 919-942-7387, option 3. Also see many adoptable shelter animals on Facebook and Instagram.

BISSELL Pet Foundation is a charitable 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission to help reduce the number of animals in shelters through pet adoption, spay/neuter programs, vaccinations, microchipping and emergency support. To learn more, visit www.bissellpetfoundation.org.
