Orange County Government will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 27-28, 2025, to observe the Thanksgiving holiday.
Please note the following exceptions:
Solid Waste: Recycling pick-up scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 27, will be collected on Friday, Nov. 28. Recycling pick-up scheduled for Friday, Nov. 28, will be collected on Saturday, Nov. 29. Please have carts out by 7 a.m. The Orange County Landfill and Waste & Recycling Centers will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27. The Orange County Landfill and Waste & Recycling Centers will be open on Friday, Nov. 28. The Administrative Office will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27 and Friday, Nov. 28.
Animal Services: Will be open on Saturday, Nov. 29. They are normally closed on Sundays. They ask that, as always, people call 9-1-1 if they have an animal-related emergency when they are closed, such as animal bites to humans or exposure to rabies.
9-1-1 Services: Will be available. Please only call 9-1-1 to report emergencies.
Library: The Orange County Public Library and the Southern Branch Library in Carrboro will be closing early at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 26, and will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 27, and Friday Nov. 28. The Orange County Public Library and the Southern Branch Library will be open regular hours during the Thanksgiving weekend.
The county will resume its regular schedule on Monday, Dec. 1.
