Temporary Housing
STARelief and Pet Assistance believes that no pet owner should have to abandon their pet in a crisis. STARelief’s Safe Place for Pets program provides free safe and temporary foster care to pets of the homeless, victims of domestic violence, and people suffering an illness. With the goal of keeping pets and their people together.
The RedRover Relief Safe Escape grant program helps families with pets safely escape domestic violence together. Funding is mainly provided to help with the cost of one month of pet boarding while a survivor is in a domestic violence shelter, though other costs associated with boarding (like vaccinations) can be considered. Assistance does not typically cover pet boarding once the survivor has moved from the safe house into transitional housing. Applications must be submitted by a domestic violence advocate and we will respond within one business day.
Safe Havens for Pets connects pet owners with sheltering services that help individuals who are experiencing domestic violence or homelessness with a companion animal. Safe Havens for Pets provides a national directory of safe havens.
Military Deployment
Dogs On Deployment is a 501(c)(3) national non-profit which provides an online network for service members to search for volunteers who are willing to board their pets during their owner's service commitments.
Guardian Angels for Soldier’s Pet maintains a Military Pet Assistance fund to help with a range of pet medical and/or boarding needs for deployed personnel, homeless veterans, or those facing short-term hospitalization.
Donte’s Den is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization and the only facility anywhere that offers long term and permanent care for dogs whose owners are unable to care for them due to illness, injury, abandonment, long-term travel or military deployment.
