Background
October 12, 2021 – In-person Public Outreach Meeting 
The Orange County Planning Department held an In-Person Open House at the Efland-Cheeks Community Center.  Individuals who were interested were able to drop in to ask questions of Planning staff and look at various maps that featured the focus area.
 
October 13, 2021 – Virtual Public Outreach Meeting
The Orange County Planning Department hosted a virtual Q&A meeting. After a brief welcome by members of the Board of County Commissioners, Planning Staff shared information about the area and then opened the discussion up to participants. To view the meeting, please click here.

November 16, 2021 – BOCC Virtual Business Meeting
Orange County Planning staff provided a memorandum to the Orange County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) at their November 16, 2021 Virtual Business Meeting. The memo detailed what happened at each of the public outreach meetings in October and reviewed the CIP for possible sewer extension in FY 2021-22. A copy of the memo can be found here.

Annexation Information
The following tables provide information related to annexations that have taken place in western Orange County since 2013.  It is important to note that these tables capture annexations that originate from both Orange County and from Mebane’s Extra-Territorial Jurisdiction (ETJ). 
 
Projects whose previous zoning was “Orange County” had an Orange County zoning designation and developed under the Orange County Unified Development Ordinance (UDO); conversely, projects whose zoning was “ETJ” had a Mebane zoning designation and were intended to eventually be annexed into Mebane’s incorporated area. 

The second table below shares the split of what proportion of the annexations were previously zoned as Mebane ETJ vs. the proportion that were previously zoned in Orange County.
