Orange County is making it more convenient for residents to pay property taxes with a new digital payment system.

MyOrangeCountyNC is Orange County’s new official online and mobile payment portal for property taxes. Orange County leadership created the new payment solution in partnership with PayIt, an award-winning digital government and payment platform. The system went through a soft launch on May 5 and is now available for everyone to use.

“This is a step forward in expanding options that Orange County provides for its residents and taxpayers,” said Orange County Tax Administrator Nancy Freeman. “Property owners, businesses and residents want a simple, convenient interaction with Orange County Tax and these new service offerings will help us deliver just that. We can now better meet people’s expectations for a modern government.”

MyOrangeCountyNC provides residents with an easy-to-use experience that streamlines the payment process through a user-friendly interface. MyOrangeCountyNC allows residents to securely store their preferred payment methods within the platform and set up automatic payments as well as create reminder notifications about bill due dates.

"Partnering with local leaders who prioritized making daily life easier for Orange County’s citizens has been a privilege for our team,” PayIt Chief Government Relations Officer Jeff Craver said. “Empowering residents to pay their property taxes anytime and anywhere was a priority for Orange County’s leaders, and we are thrilled to have been chosen as partners in making this step in the county’s digital transformation a reality with MyOrangeCountyNC."

Orange County chose PayIt after an evaluation process that also considered the company’s successful partnership with the North Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles to create the myNCDMV payment solution for vehicle registration and more. Current MyNCDMV account holders can use their MyNCDMV digital wallet and account information to login into MyOrangeCountyNC to process Orange County tax payments.

MyOrangeCountyNC replaces Orange County’s previous online billpay site. The new digital payment system is currently available to download in the Google Play store for Android devices as well as the Apple App Store for iOS devices. It can also be accessed online at pay.orangecountync.gov.
