The Orange County Health Department urges everyone to enjoy the long weekend while making safe choices.

“Nothing about the past six months has been normal or like anything we’re accustomed to, and neither will this Labor Day weekend,” said Orange County Health Director, Quintana Stewart. “If you do choose to gather with friends and family this weekend, please remember to wear a mask when not with household members, wait six feet apart and wash your hands often. We will get through this!”

Looking for some guidance on what’s safe? The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have tips for visiting restaurants, visiting beaches, camping, hosting or attending outdoor gatherings, and more.

If you’re looking for local options, the Chapel Hill Orange County Visitors Bureau has a blog post to help you make a weekend plan. The post includes suggestions for hikes and other outdoor activities, restaurants, galleries and retail shops.

Whether you explore your town or venture a bit farther away, please wash your hands frequently, wait 6 feet apart from others not in your household and wear a cloth face covering to minimize the risk of increasing COVID-19 cases in your community.
