Orange County Building Safety Official Russell Williams received his fifth level III Standard Inspection Certification on April 23, 2019, from the NC Code Officials Qualification Board.
Only 271 Inspectors have ever achieved level III certifications in all five inspection disciplines (Building, Fire, Electrical, Mechanical and Plumbing). Williams has been employed with Orange County since April 2016 and has earned all his Standard Certifications during that time.
"We are extremely proud of Russell’s accomplishments and recognize that he exemplifies what is good in our community," said Michael Rettie, Chief Building Official for the Orange County Inspections Department who has also achieved the distinction. "He works hard for our residents ensuring they have a safe place to live, work and play"
Williams was presented his certificate by NC Code Officials Qualification Board Chairman Bill Thunberg.
The NC Code Officials Qualification Board has the primary duty of certifying Code Enforcement Officials (CEOs) in North Carolina. No city, county, or state agency inspector may enforce the State Building Code without being certified by the Qualification Board. The 20 member Board is composed of engineers, contractors, inspectors, architects, educators, and city, county, and state officials.
