[ARCHIVED] CELEBRATE National Library week: Read Down your Fines

Read Down Fines logo

It's spring and so it's time to read down any fines you may have accrued at the Orange County Public Library.

From Sunday, April 7 until Saturday, June 1 you can reduce fines by $2.00 for every 15 minutes you read. Come to one of our three locations, select printed reading material and let a staff member know you would like to read down the fines on your account. And if you don’t have fines, but would like to help someone who does, you can read it forward. We start Read Down Your Fines every April as a way to celebrate National Library Week.

About National Library Week 2019

The theme for 2019 National Library Week is "Libraries = Strong Communities," and Gates Foundation Co-founder Melinda Gates will serve as 2019 National Library Week Honorary Chair. Every April the American Library Association honors the contributions of our nation's libraries and library workers and promotes library use and support. From free access to books and online resources for families to library services that support entrepreneurship and retraining, libraries offer opportunity to all.

The Orange County Public Library has three locations to serve you. The Main Library is located at 137 W. Margaret Lane in downtown Hillsborough. The Carrboro Branch is located inside McDougle Middle School, 900 Old Fayetteville Road in Chapel Hill. The Cybrary is located at The Century Center, 100 N. Greensboro Street, Carrboro. Free parking is available at all library locations. For library hours of operation and complete service and program information, please visit www.OrangeCountyLibrary.org.
