Today, the Chair of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners, Jamezetta Bedford, signed a Declaration of an Orange County State of Emergency ahead of severe weather expected across Orange County. Tropical Storm Debby has the potential for excessive rainfall, flash flooding, and wind gusts up to 40 mph.
“This weather has the potential to bring intense rain and flooding to Orange County,” said Orange County Manager Travis Myren. “As the weather becomes more severe, I urge everyone to stay aware and keep a watch on the forecast.”
The Declaration provides access to the resources that we may need to be able to respond quickly to Tropical Storm Debby. We can expect upwards of ten inches of rain over the next several days. Extreme impacts will most likely be felt Thursday into Friday.
Emergency Services Director Kirby Saunders said, “We are urging our community members to be safe and cautious during the heavy rainfall and winds, and to sign up for OC Alerts to receive timely alerts via text, phone, or email.”
