[ARCHIVED] Animal Services receives lifesaving investment from national non-profit Petco Love

Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) is proud to announce that they have received a grant from Petco Love to assist with spay and neuter programs. This lifesaving investment will be used to support shelter initiatives that prevent pet overpopulation and keep pets out of shelters. The grant amount received from Petco Love is $20,000. This generous investment will support lifesaving work for pets in Orange County.

Petco Love is a national nonprofit leading change for pets by harnessing the power of love to make communities and pet families closer, stronger, and healthier. Since its founding in 1999, Petco Love has invested nearly $400 million in adoption and other lifesaving efforts. And Petco Love helps find loving homes for pets in partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 organizations — like OCAS — across North America, with 6.8 million pets adopted and counting.

“Our investment in Orange County Animal Services is part of more than $15M in investments recently announced by Petco Love to power local organizations across the country as part of our commitment to create a future in which no pet is unnecessarily euthanized,” said Susanne Kogut, president of Petco Love. “Our local investments are only part of our strategy to empower animal lovers to drive lifesaving change right alongside us. We recently launched Petco Love Lost, a national lost and found database that uses pet image technology to simplify the search for lost pets.”

"We are excited to receive this grant," said Tiani Stamey, Orange County Animal Services Assistant Director. "It will significantly support our spay and neuter efforts to address pet overpopulation and increase our lifesaving efforts. We are grateful for Petco Love’s generous support in this vital mission."

OCAS strives to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of humans, pets and the community as a whole. Addressing pet overpopulation with a proactive and positive approach is an integral ingredient of the department’s mission. OCAS has pets available for adoption, and also partners with rescue organizations to place as many animals as possible in loving homes.
