Orange County to Celebrate Opening of New Efland EMS Station and Medical Examiner’s Office June 18

Home - News & Events Posted on June 16, 2025

Orange County Government invites members of the news media and the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the opening of the new Efland EMS Station and Medical Examiner’s Office. The event will take place on Wednesday, June 18, at 10 a.m. at the new facility located at 3800 Highway 70 West in Efland.

The ceremony will feature remarks from Jamezetta Bedford, Chair of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, and Kirby Saunders, Director of Orange County Emergency Services, among others.

This milestone marks the completion of Orange County’s first purpose-built, standalone EMS facility. The project originated from a strategic need to enhance emergency services in the western central region of the county, especially for the communities of Efland and Cheeks.

The site—formerly home to Krazy Karts Golf Cart Sales—was purchased in 2018, with county officials ultimately deciding that new construction offered the most efficient and sustainable long-term solution. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on July 14, 2022, launching development of the 5,479-square-foot facility, designed in collaboration with the Emergency Medical Services professionals who will operate from the location.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and take a tour of the new building following the ceremony.
