ORANGE COUNTY, NC (May 14, 2020) – Orange County Animal Services (OCAS) is proud to announce their new Pet Food Assistance Program. This program was created to assist Orange County residents who have lost income and are in need of pet food during the COVID-19 pandemic.
By visiting www.orangecountync.gov/2400/Pet-Food-Assistance-During-COVID-19, Orange County residents may fill out a form to apply for pet food assistance. Those in need of assistance may also call 919-932-4965. While OCAS will work to help as many residents as possible, it is important to note that pet food will only be distributed to Orange County residents as long as it is available. There are other possible resources for pet food assistance listed on the aforementioned web page, including emergency relief resources for those in need of food for horses and other farm animals.
OCAS is currently asking for help to stock the Pet Food Assistance Pantry by encouraging donations from their Amazon Wish List: https://a.co/jjrjAWU. In-person donation drop-offs at the Animal Services Center have temporarily been suspended due to safety concerns during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, OCAS is able to accept donations via delivery from companies such as www.amazon.com and www.chewy.com. Any donations may be shipped to the Animal Services Center at 1601 Eubanks Road, Chapel Hill, NC 27516.
OCAS would like to thank the community for their help, patience, and understanding as they try to manage and maintain services while protecting staff and members of the public during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
