 4.  Proclamations/ Resolutions/ Special Presentations
a.  Fire Prevention Week Proclamation
The Board approved a proclamation designating the week of October 9 through 15, 2022 as Fire Prevention Week in Orange County. (Unanimous)
 
5.  Public Hearings
a.  Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) Text Amendments – Erosion & Sedimentation Control (E&SC) and Stormwater Management
The Board held a public hearing, received the Planning Board and staff recommendations, received public comment, and approved County-initiated amendments to the Unified Development Ordinance (UDO) that are necessary to conform Orange County’s UDO to the State’s most current Model Ordinances for Erosion & Sedimentation Control (E&SC), Stormwater Management, and Performance Guarantee requirements as mandated by applicable North Carolina General Statutes and State design manuals. (Unanimous)
 
6.  Regular Agenda
a.  Regulation of Gatherings on and near School Property and Public Playgrounds
The Board presented for first reading an ordinance regulating picketing on or within a specified distance of School Property and Public Playgrounds.  After discussion and receiving public comments, the Board deferred consideration of the ordinance.  (Approved 6-1, with Vice Chair Bedford dissenting.)  The Board approved the creation of a task force to discuss school safety.  (Unanimous)
