Caregiver Day of Care

We are pleased and honored to invite you to our first and hopefully annual Caregiver Day of Care event that will take place on November 9 at the Seymour Center in Chapel Hill. It is a privilege to have you with us at this special occasion. The event celebrates National Family Caregivers Month by recognizing and honoring your efforts and commitment as a caregiver here in Orange County.

The event will kick-off with registration and light refreshments at 9:30 and the official program beginning at 10am. We are anticipating a welcome from the director of the Orange County Department on Aging and one of the Orange County Commissioners.
Please join us on Saturday, November 9, from 9:30 am. – 2:00 pm at the Seymour Center in Chapel Hill (located at 2551 Homestead Road) where you and other caregivers will enjoy:

  • All-day relaxation room with massage and aroma therapy

  • Wellness activities

  • Educational classes

  • Art workshops

  • Live Music

  • Raffles

  • Refreshments, lunch and more!

There is no cost for you to attend this event. However, we do ask that you register by Saturday, November 2, by calling 919-968-2070.

Additionally, limited respite care is available upon request, and is on a first come, first serve basis. To discuss whether this would be a good fit for the person you’re caring for, please email Lisa Meinert or call 919-245-4251 by Friday, October 18.

We are hoping to see you at the Caregiver Day of Care!

New Program: Care Partner Collaborative

Join us as we come together weekly to co-create a space that welcomes and supports seniors experiencing cognitive and/or physical challenges.  In a relaxed setting, we’ll share conversation, have lunch, and enjoy music, movement and other activities of our own design.

This gathering, Wednesdays at the Seymour Center from 10 am to 1 pm, is part of a collaborative project that relies on the input and participation of care partners. Through their active involvement, care partners gain connection, community, comfort and confidence for their journey ahead.

Registration is required. Please contact Lisa Meinert at lmeinert@orangecountync.gov or 919-245-4251 to discuss eligibility details and whether this is a good fit for you and the person you are caring for.
