MEETING HIGHLIGHTS

6.  Regular Agenda

a.  Approval of Professional Services Contract with Woolpert, Inc. to Conduct a Public School Capital Needs Assessment, and Approval of Budget Amendment #7-A

The Board approved a professional services contract with Woolpert Inc. totaling $984,561 to conduct a Facilities Condition Assessment, a School Optimization Plan and develop Benchmarking Best Practices for all public schools in Orange County, with the proposed scope of work including $85,000 for a study of educational adequacy of school facilities; and approved Budget Amendment #7-A.  (Approved 4-2, with Commissioners Portie-Ascott and Richards dissenting.)  

b.  Recommendations for Employee Health Insurance and Other Benefits

The Board approved the Manager’s recommendations regarding employee health and dental insurance effective July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2024.  (Unanimous)

7.  Reports

a.  Child Welfare Updates and Planning

The Board received an update on child welfare services provided by the Department of Social Services (DSS) including current system challenges and plans for the future.
