The Gentle Art of Making Lace
An unknown writer said “Lace is thread surrounded by air.” A very simple, but appropriate description of the beautiful, handmade lace artifacts created by lacemakers. Come and meet lacemakers from the Carolinas and Virginia, see some of their lovely work, and learn about the different types of lace and how they are made. If you like, you can try out doing the simple movements of thread-filled bobbins that create these works of art on a demonstration lace pillow.

Japanese Embroidery        
Japanese embroidery is a technique that goes back 1,600+ years. We use silk and metallic fibers on silk fabrics to produce traditional and modern designs for framing. Instruction in the basic techniques is an orderly progression of phases. Open to beginners as well as current students.
