Orange County Board of Commissioners
Business Meeting Agenda for February 2, 2021
Due to current public health concerns, the Orange County Board of Commissioners will be conducting a virtual business meeting on February 2, 2021. Members of the Board of Commissioners will be participating in the meeting remotely. Members of the public will be able to view and listen to the meeting and have the opportunity to provide public comment. The public may submit written comments by sending an email to ocbocc@orangecountync.gov. Individuals who wish to speak must pre-register using the instructions included in the agenda.
As in prior meetings, the meeting will be streamed in real-time on the County’s website for public viewing/listening at http://www.orangecountync.gov/967/Meeting-Videos . There will also be real-time broadcast on Spectrum Cable and video-recording for future television broadcast and reference on the County’s website.

4. Proclamations/ Resolutions/ Special Presentations
a. Proclamation Recognizing and Honoring Ron Stutts
The Board will consider voting to approve a proclamation recognizing and honoring Ron Stutts for his 43 years of serving the Chapel Hill/Carrboro and Orange County community on WCHL radio and authorize the Chair to sign.
b. Proclamation Recognizing and Expressing Appreciation to Nancy Grebenkemper
The Board will consider voting to approve a proclamation recognizing and expressing appreciation to Nancy Grebenkemper for her devotion and service to the people of Orange County through PORCH Hillsborough.
c. Black History Month Proclamation
The Board will consider voting to approve a proclamation designating February 2021 as Black History Month in Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign.
6. Regular Agenda
a. Review of Zoning Atlas Amendment: NC Highway 57 Speedway Rural Economic Development Area (REDA-CZ-1) – Rougemont Self Storage
The Board will hold a public hearing, receive the Planning Board/staff recommendation and public comment, close the public hearing, and consider action on an applicant initiated Zoning Atlas Amendment for a parcel within the Little River Township of the County. Specifically, Darrell Chandler of Rougemont Storage Center, LLC, is seeking to rezone approximately 7.37 acres of a parcel at 8927 Mile Branch Road to NC Highway 57 Speedway Rural Economic Development Area (REDA-CZ-1). Approval of the zoning atlas amendment will allow for the expansion of the existing self-storage business.

Members of the public may provide written public comment by submitting it to the ocbocc@orangecountync.gov email address. The Orange County Board of Commissioners, County Manager, County Attorney and Clerk to the Board, will be copied on all of the emails that are submitted.
Public Comment – Verbal
(for Items not on the Agenda, Agenda Items and Public Hearings)
Members of the public will be asked to contact the Clerk to the Board using the email address ocpubliccomment@orangecountync.gov no later than 3:00 PM on the day of the meeting and indicate they wish to speak during the meeting.
When submitting the request to speak, include the following:
- The date of the meeting
- The agenda item (example: 6-a) you wish to speak on
- Your name, address, email and phone number
Prior to the meeting, speakers will be emailed Zoom access information and instructions on how to make comments during the live meeting.
