[ARCHIVED] Groundbreaking for new Efland EMS Station to be held July 14

Rendering of new EMS Station

The public is invited to join the staff and project team for a groundbreaking ceremony for the Orange County Emergency Services Efland EMS Station and Medical Examiner’s Office. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, beginning at 3 p.m. at the site located at 3800 Highway 70 West in Efland.

Kirby Saunders, Director of Orange County Emergency Services, and Renee Price, Chair of the Orange County Board of Commissioners, will speak during the ceremony.

In FY2018-19 Orange County purchased the site, which was formerly the Krazy Karts Golf Cart sales and service shop. In 2019 Orange County contracted with Stewart Cooper Newell Architects to provide a complete design analysis of the existing facility to convert into an Orange County Emergency Services Substation.

After the analysis was completed, it was determined it would be more cost-effective to deconstruct the existing facility and build something new.

When complete, the new building will consist of a 5,574 square foot EMS Station and Medical Examiner’s quarters with two ambulance bays. Work is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2023.
