There is a current vacancy on the Orange County Board of Commissioners due to former Commissioner Renée Price’s election to the N.C. House of Representatives.
Applications were due to the Clerk to the Board by 5:00 pm on January 6, 2023. Eligible applicants were required to be registered Democrats and reside in District 2. The Elections Director has reviewed each application to confirm eligibility. Applications have been sent to the Orange County Democratic Party so they can make nominations. The Board of County Commissioners will hear from the nominees on February 7, 2023, and then vote on the replacement. The person they vote for does not have to be from the pool of nominees submitted by the Democratic Party. The person chosen will serve the remainder of Price’s term, which ends in November 2024.
The five (5) applications received for the Commissioner vacancy can be found here.
