Teen Advisory Board (TAB)
Help us make the library even better for teens. The Teen Advisory Board (TAB) is a group of teens who work to make the library teen-friendly. TAB is a great way to get service learning and community service hours. Apply to join the Teen Advisory Board by inquiring at the Main Library or by filling out this form and emailing it to Miss Kafi, TAB staff person.

TAB runs for a few months twice a year. Session I runs from January through April. Session II runs from September through November. Space is limited, so you have to apply for each session. During a session, TAB meets as a group (over snacks) every other Tuesday from 6-6:50 p.m. to discuss and plan things we want in the library for teens. On the weeks in between meetings, members can schedule service time to work on projects in the teen room if they want to get extra service hours. When the TAB puts together an event, members participate, eat tasty food, and have fun!
TAB helps to:
- Create a welcoming teen area in the library
- Create displays
- Design and create content for the TAB’s zine made for and by teens
- Make teen programs possible
- Promote reading and expression for and by teens
- Recommend items for the library’s collections
- Work on the teen opportunities bulletin board
TAB members:
- Acquire experience to use in job applications
- Be creative and express themselves through projects and activities
- Enjoy personal satisfaction in serving their community and peers
- Fulfill service learning requirements for high school or college
- Have fun plus food at meetings and events
- Influence what the library has available for teens
If you are at the Main Library, you can pick up, fill out, and submit an application to Miss Kafi (kuh-FEE) in the Adult and Teen Services area.
