At the Orange County Public Library, we offer 4 services from which you may borrow e-books and e-audiobooks. (In case you're wondering, e-books are a books composed in or converted to a downloadable digital format meant to display on a computer screen or handheld device. An e-audiobook is a file - mp3, m4a, m4b, wav, flac, etc.- downloaded and stored on your computer or device as a file or files.)

        NC LIVE  

 NC LIVEAccess over 10 e-book collections, including the HomeGrown Collection with e-books from NC publishers and authors. 

      

                        NC Kids Digital    

 NC Kids Digital LibraryChoose from over 3,700 e-audiobooks, e-books, read alongs, and videos for younger readers.


                        Hoopla Online    



hoopla. Instantly borrow e-audiobooks, e-books, comics, movies, music and more -- 24/7, no waiting and no late fees. This service features an automated feature that returns your item once your time is up. Check-out limit: 3 items/month. 

  • Daily usage caps. To provide access to hoopla year-round without exceeding our budget, there is a daily limit on hoopla lending. If demand is high, and the limit is reached, you may receive a message that our limit has been reached. The limit rolls over every 24-hours at midnight (EST)
  • Kid-friendly content. Parents and guardians can install "Kids Mode" by visiting "Settings" in the hoopla app or by visiting the "Account" page on the hoopla website and flipping the toggle 
  • Its own check out periods. Movies and TV episodes: 72 hours or 3 days. Some publishers limit the borrowing time 48 hours or 2 days. Most music albums: 7 days. Most e-books, e-audiobooks, and comics: 21 days
