The Orange County Public Library does not charge fines for overdue materials. Please bring items back, however, as someone else may be waiting to use them.
Fees for Lost & Damaged Materials
Customers must pay for any materials lost or damaged beyond use. The replacement cost is the item’s list price plus a $5 service charge. If an item is out of print or a price is unavailable, a default replacement cost will be used. It is based on average costs of materials.
Library Card Fees
- There is no fee for library accounts/cards for anyone living in Orange, Alamance, Caswell, Chatham, Durham or Person County. We also offer free library accounts/cards to anyone who works in Orange County.
- All students and employees in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools, Eno River Academy, Orange County Schools, and The Expedition School automatically receive free library accounts
- We charge $25/year for all other library accounts. If you have lost your card, we charge $1 to replace it
