The purpose of the Orange County Civil Rights Ordinance (PDF) is:
- To promote the equal treatment of all individuals
- To prohibit discrimination in Orange County based on:
- Age
- Color
- Disability
- Familial status
- National origin
- Sex
- Race
- Religion
- Veteran status
- To protect residents' lawful interests and their personal dignity so as to make available to the County their full productive and creative capacities
- To prevent public and domestic strife, crime, and unrest within Orange County.
It is the further purpose of this Ordinance to carry out in Orange County the policies provided for in various federal rules, regulations and laws prohibiting discrimination in, among other areas, housing and public accommodations.
