Volunteer at the Library

Citizens interested in participating in County Government, can apply to volunteer at the library.

To find out more about what a volunteer does, read our descriptions about a volunteer. Volunteers learn how to support librarians and library events. We provide training for all of our volunteers.

Application Process

  1. Fill out a volunteer application and drop it off at the Main Library in Hillsborough or mail it to:

After we receive your completed application, we will contact you for an interview.

  1. Adults complete a county background check application at Secure Volunteer  
  2. Interview for the position. The interview helps us determine if you interests are a good match for volunteer positions available at the time. After the interview, we will let you know if you have been selected to volunteer at the library.
  3. Finalize your schedule and attend a safety tour with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  4. Attend training for your volunteer position.
