School Volunteers needed! Can YOU help?  Find out how rewarding it is to help students 1-2 hours each week for a semester any time during the school day, PreK-12 grades, with reading, science, math, writing, learning English, art, special needs, etc. YOU choose the volunteer placement that fits YOUR schedule and YOUR interests!

School Reading Partners:  Help beginning readers practice reading skills, 1-2 hours weekly
ESL Volunteers:  Help K-12 students that are learning English during the school day
Coach Write:  Conference one-on-one with students to improve their writing skills

Compass Center

The Compass Center for Women and Families helps individuals and families to become self-sufficient and to prevent and end domestic violence. They provide career and financial education, assistance with legal resources, domestic violence crisis services, and adolescent empowerment programs.

Domestic Violence Hotline Advocates - *Spanish and English speakers needed
First Response Volunteers - Spanish not required, but a plus
Spanish Interpreter/ Translator - Spanish required

PORCH Hillsborough and/or Chapel Hill/ Carrboro   
Neighborhood Coordinator - Collect all food donations from participating porches on your street each month and deliver the food to a nearby garage or St. Thomas More Church for sorting.

Volunteer at a food sort - Separate the cans (soups, vegetables, beans, meats, etc...) so that PORCH can meet the specific requests of the pantries from month to month.

Join a PORCH club at your school - With each food drive, service learning hours are available for high school students.

Volunteers for Youth
Be a Mentor - Volunteers for Youth matches children from 8-14 years of age with responsible adult volunteers in Orange County. Volunteers and young people agree to spend at least two hours a week together for one year engaging in activites of mutual interest such as hiking, cooking, or sports.
