News Release

The Sheriff's Office welcomes information from Citizens or individuals which can assist us in solving cases or issues. Investigators will be assigned to follow up on any information provided. Please call the Orange County Sheriff's Office, Cpl. Chan McDade, at 245-2900 or 942-6300, during regular office hours, 8 AM until 5PM, every weekday.

EFLAND AREA:

****Break in to locked residence reported 02/07/12, 3:18 pm, 2309 Brookhollow Rd , 27243 

The complainant advised that she left her residence around 8am this morning, and when she returned she found the house broken into. the residence was entered from a carport door where the window was broken out and the door unlocked. A hand gun and laptop was stolen. Value $1,100.00

 

NOTE: Alexander Monroe Hester (see attached) was arrested and charged with the below crime

CEDAR GROVE AREA:

****Break in to locked storage building reported 01/16/12  8:20 pm, 7032 Caviness Jordan Rd

The complainant stated she owns the property but has been renting it.  While at the residence today she checked the storage building to find that a window had been broken out and several items were missing.  guns and tools were inside the building and they are now missing. Possible suspects named. No value given

 

NOTE: Benjamin Robert Smith (see attached) was arrested and charged with the below crime

****Break in to locked residence reported 02/01/12, 9:58 am, 1015 Royal oak Dr. near Alamance Co

I responded to the incident location in reference an alarm call. Communications said the alarm company told them that the activation was coming from a side door. Upon arrival, I saw that the glass on the side door was broken and the blinds on the inside of the glass were damaged. I also noticed that there was a silver in color knife lying on the driveway near the side of the house where the damaged door was.There was a rock on the stoop that looked as if was used to break the window. The alarm must have scared them off, nothing missings

 

He was also charged with the following crime

EFLAND AREA:

****Break in to locked residence reported 02/01/12, 4:26 pm, 2009 Ira Rd , 27243

The complainant advised that the glass in the back door of the residence had been broken and the residence had been entered.  The complainant advised that no one had been at home from about ten o'clock am until four o'clock pm.  The complainant advised that a PA system and an acoustic guitar had been taken. value $2,250.00
