Multi-Family Recycling Program

Recycling sites are located at over 95% of multifamily complexes (apartments, town homes, and condominiums) in Carrboro, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough. These sites are available to residents 24-hours a day, seven days per week.

The materials listed below are collected in labeled wheeled carts at one or more locations at multi-family sites.
Residents must sort materials into the appropriate wheeled cart.

NO PLASTIC BAGS! If you collect your recycables in plastic bags, please sort the recyclables and discard the bag elsewhere. Grocery bags can be reused or recycled at many area grocery stores.

DO NOT leave Corrugated Cardboard in the recyling carts. There should be a corrugated cardboard recycling dumpster at your complex or you can recycle corrugated cardboard at Drop-off Locations. Corrugated cardboard from multi-family sites is banned from the Orange County Landfill and must be recycled. DO NOT INCLUDE PIZZA BOXES. Place these in your regular trash.
