Solid Waste Advisory Board

The Orange County Solid Waste Advisory Board (SWAB) is an eight-member body that provides advice to the Board of Orange County Commissioners on solid waste matters in our county. The SWAB consists of two representatives from each of the four local governments in Orange County selected by that government, plus a liaison from the Board of Orange County Commissioners and one from UNC Chapel Hill.

The SWAB meets monthly,  the regular schedule is the second Wednesday of the month from 7pm to 9pm at the Orange County Solid Waste Management Administration Building, 1207 Eubanks Rd. in Chapel Hill. Click here for a meeting schedule for 2012.

MEETING CHANGE:

FEBRUARY'S SWAB MEETING WILL BE HELD THE THIRD WEDNESDAY OF THE MONTH, FEBRUARY 15, 2012, 7:00 p.m. at the Solid Waste Management Administrative Office. The regular schedule will resume in March.

This was a special meeting of the Solid Waste Advisory Board-- Tuesday, March 31, 2009. The purpose of the meeting was to receive and discuss a draft waste hauling and disposal cost analysis from the four local governments in Orange County to a proposed transfer station location on West Hwy. 54 in Orange County and the existing City of Durham Transfer Station and two existing private transfer stations in RTP.
