How do I apply for a position? 

An official County application must be submitted for each position for which you are applying. Completed applications must be received by 5 p.m. on the position closing date. Resumes submitted without a complete application will not be accepted.  Applications can be obtained through our Web site, in our office located at 208 South Cameron Street, in Hillsborough, or by contacting us

How can I get a listing of the current openings? 

You can hear a listing about our current openings by calling the Orange County Job Information Line.  Also, information regarding the positions is available on our Web site under Job Opportunities.

Can applications be submitted online? 

At this time, applications may not be submitted online.  They can be sent by mail, in person or by fax.

What is the application process? 

The application process typically takes up to 3 months, and an applicant may be called during that time for an interview.  Applications will be received until 5 p.m. on the closing date.  Applications submitted after that time will not be considered.  Once the closing date is over, all applications received will be screened by the Human Resources Department, and forwarded to the department for review.  If you are selected for an interview, the department for the position you applied will contact you directly.

Is there a waiting list for positions that you do not have posted on the Job Opportunities list?

No, Orange County does not have a waiting lists for positions, however, if you are interested in a position that is not advertised, you may complete a position interest card. When the position opens for recruitment, you will be notified by mail. The interest cards remain active for 6 months from the time they are submitted.
