Pursuant to the Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and North Carolina Senate Bill 300 which was passed in 2001, Orange County prepared and adopted a multi-jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan with the Town of Carrboro and Town of Hillsborough. In accordance with federal regulations which requires plans to be updated every five years, an updated plan was later adopted by the participating jurisdictions.
