Help Orange County DSS "Stuff the Bus" with toys on Nov. 18
ORANGE COUNTY, NC (November 17, 2017) — The Orange County Department of Social Services and Chapel Hill Transit would like to invite everyone to come out and “Stuff the Bus” this Saturday, Nov. 18, 2017, at the Hillsborough Wal-Mart located at 501 Hampton Pointe B, Hillsborough, NC 27278 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
This is the ninth year that Orange County DSS will serve as the coordinator for the local Toys for Tots campaign. All toys and donations collected through the Orange County Toys for Tots campaign stay right here in our community and are used to support the Toy Chest program.
There are more than 10,000 children in Orange County living in low-income households. The majority of these children have working parents that find it difficult to make ends meet. The holiday time can be especially stressful on these families as they try to provide winter clothing and gifts for their children. The Toy Chest provides an opportunity for low-income parents to select two to three gifts per child to ensure that every child in Orange County has something to celebrate during the holidays.
Each year, Toys for Tots distributes approximately 16.8 million toys to more than seven million less fortunate children nationwide. Locally, the Orange County Toys for Tots campaign collected and distributed more than 8,100 toys to more than 2,800 children in need.
Please come out and share some holiday cheer by bringing a new, unwrapped toy to “Stuff the Bus."
