Special Filing Period Set for Vacant Board of Education Contest
ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. (Sept. 25, 2017) -- Due to a vacancy occurring on the Chapel Hill/Carrboro Board of Education after the regular filing deadline, a special filing period will open from Oct. 2-6 for additional candidates to have the opportunity to file for this contest. The five candidates who already filed will not need to file again.
Due to the timing of the vacancy, the office will be added to the Nov. 7, 2017, Municipal/School Board Election. The top three candidates receiving the highest votes will serve the regular four-year terms and the candidate receiving the fourth-most votes will fill the remaining two years of the unexpired term.
Candidates may file their notice of candidacy at the Orange County Board of Elections, 208 S Cameron St., Hillsborough beginning at 8 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 2 and ending at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6.
