2017 Nature of Orange Photography Contest Winners Announced
ORANGE COUNTY, NC (July 13, 2017)—The Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation announces the winners of the Sixth Annual Nature of Orange Photography Contest. The contest, sponsored by the Orange County Commission for the Environment and Orange County Parks and Recreation Council, encourages photographers of all skill levels to capture the beauty of Orange County.
The winners in the Adult division are: 1st Place ($100 prize) – Charles R. Sheppard II for “Sunset at Maple View Farm”; 2nd Place ($75 prize) – Barbara Driscoll for “Snack Time”; 3rd Place ($50 prize) – Keith Newell for “Blue on Yellow."
The Youth Division winners are: 1st Place ($100 prize) – Cooper Batts for “Mellow Mushroom”; 2nd Place ($75 prize) – Sarah Joy Brandt for “Daisy’s Rays”; 3rd Place ($50 prize) – Lucinda Smylie.
Honorable Mention in both categories went to: Barbara Driscoll, Charles R. Sheppard II, Kadin Brown and Cooper Batts.
This year’s judges, all local photographers were: Laura Branan, David Schaub and Holden Richards. The winning photographs will be displayed at the Orange County Public Library, Main Branch, from July- August, the Chapel Hill Visitors Center from August-September and the Hillsborough Visitors Center following September.
