Orange County begins process for Affordable Housing Bond projects; information sessions scheduled for Feb. 28

ORANGE COUNTY, NC – February 24, 2017 – Orange County has released the Request for Proposals for the first round of projects to utilize a portion of the $5 million Affordable Housing Bond that was approved by voters in November 2016.

The RFP can be downloaded from the Orange County website by clicking on the Affordable Housing tab on the home page (www.orangecountync.gov). The deadline to submit the completed RFP is March 31, 2017.

There are two RFP forms. One is for providers who would like to use one of the parcels of county-owned land that has been made available for affordable housing projects. The other is for projects that will not use one of the parcels of land.

The county has scheduled two information sessions on Tuesday, Feb. 28, for providers. The first will be held in the ground floor conference room in the Link Government Services Building (200 S. Cameron St., Hillsborough) at 10 a.m. The second meeting will be held at 2 p.m. in the meeting room at the Southern Human Services Center (2501 Homestead Rd., Chapel Hill). Orange County staff will be available to answer questions during these sessions.

RFPs will be reviewed in April and May with an anticipated announcement of which projects will be funded occurring at the June 6, 2017, meeting of the Orange County Board of Commissioners.
