ORANGE COUNTY, NC (February 14, 2017) – The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) wants to hear your input on its draft Comprehensive Transportation Plan. Orange County will host a public open house on Thursday, February 16th from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Orange County Public Library located at 137 W. Margaret Lane in Hillsborough. This event will be conducted as a drop-in workshop, with staff on hand to explain the process, answer questions, and take comments from the public.
The Comprehensive Transportation Plan lists proposed highway, bus transit, light rail transit, bicycle, pedestrian, and other transportation improvements to be implemented over the next several decades for the urbanized parts of Orange County. This plan has a long time horizon and is structured to address identified transportation needs with the ultimate intent of ensuring a functioning transportation system far into the future.
The DCHC MPO is responsible for long-range transportation planning in Durham County and parts of Orange and Chatham Counties. The MPO Executive Board is mostly composed of elected officials from the jurisdictions and counties in its planning area.
