APPLICANTS NEEDED FOR ORANGE COUNTY ADVISORY BOARDS
ORANGE COUNTY, NC (January 18, 2017) – One major way citizens can have a positive impact on the future of Orange County is to volunteer to serve on the various advisory boards and commissions. Applicants are needed for the following Orange County boards.
- At-Large applicants are needed for the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee. The charge of the Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee is to help maintain the intent of the Residents' “Bill of Rights”; promote community involvement and provide public education on long-term care issues. The regional ombudsman with Triangle J Council of Governments provides specialized training and support. The committee is currently in need of applicants for an At-Large position with some related background. This board has an initial one-year training term with subsequent eligibility for two additional three-year terms.
- There are three At-Large positions open on the Affordable Housing Advisory Board. This board prioritizes affordable housing needs, assesses and monitors project proposals and local housing programs. The Board will also explore new funding opportunities, assist in the investigation of County residential segregation patterns, and assist with other housing-related items as identified by the Board of County Commissioners.
- There are three (3) upcoming vacancies on the Orange County Parks and Recreation Council for individuals who reside in the Chapel Hill town limits, Chapel Hill Township, and Bingham Township. The Orange County Parks & Recreation Council consults with and advises the Department of Environment, Agriculture, Parks and Recreation, and the Board of County Commissioners. Topics include matters affecting parks planning, development and operation; recreation facilities, policies and programs; and public trails and open space. The Orange County Parks & Recreation Council includes representatives from each of the county’s townships plus its municipalities.
