DSS program offers help with heating bills for low-income families

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (January 8, 2017) -- Residents who need temporary help paying their heating bills can find relief through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program administered by the Orange County Department of Social Services.

Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) funds are available through March 31 (or when funds are exhausted) for one-time heating bill payments for households that:

  • Have at least one U.S. citizen or non-citizen who meets the eligibility criteria
  • Meet an income test
  • Have reserves at or below $2,250
  • Are responsible for its heating bills
