ORANGE COUNTY CLOSINGS, SERVICE ADJUSTMENTS FOR HOLIDAYS

Orange County administrative offices will close Friday, Dec. 23 and Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 26-27, in observance of the Christmas holiday. Offices will also be closed Monday, Jan. 2, 2017, in observance of New Year’s Day.

Please be advised of these additional changes in normal operating hours for the following Orange County departments or services.

Animal Services

The Animal Services facility will be closed Dec. 23-27, but owners of lost pets may reclaim them from the Animal Services Center between 9 a.m. and noon on Monday, Dec. 26. Only claims for lost pets will be conducted during that period.

Any 9-1-1 calls for emergency Animal Control services will be answered on a 24-hour schedule. The after-hours animal drop will be open and checked daily. Holding periods for stray animals will be extended to account for the holiday closings.

Health Department

The Orange County Health Department clinics and administrative offices will observe the regular county holiday schedule. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, or have a communicable disease to report, please call 9-1-1.

Libraries         

All library locations will be closed Dec. 23-27 and Jan. 1-2. The parking lot bookdrop at the Main Library in Hillsborough will be closed during these times. Please use the bookdrop at the front of the building.

Parks and Recreation

The Central Recreation Center Gym and the Community Centers will follow the county closing schedule, with the following exception. Games scheduled for Jan. 2 will be played at the Central Gym.

Little River Regional Park will close Dec. 24 and 25 and will reopen Dec. 26 at 8 a.m. The park is open on New Year’s Day.

Blackwood Farm Park will be closed Dec, 23-29 and will reopen Dec. 30. It is closed Jan 1. The park is normally open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays only.

Public Transportation (OPT)

OPT will operate limited service serving the in-county dialysis route only (Carolina Dialysis) on Dec. 23, 24, 26 & 27 and on Monday, Jan. 2. Trip requests for Wednesday, Dec. 28, must be received by 3 p.m. Dec. 21. Trip requests for Thursday, Dec. 29, must be received by 3 p.m., Dec. 22. Trip requests for Tuesday, Jan. 3 must be received by 3 p.m. Dec. 29. Trip requests for Wednesday, Jan. 4 must be received by 3 p.m. Dec. 30.

Recycling, Landfill, and Solid Waste Convenience Centers

Christmas Schedule:

Curbside recycling will be collected as normally scheduled. Please have your cart or bins out by 7 a.m. on your collection day.

Waste and Recycling Centers will close at noon on Dec. 24 and will be closed Dec. 25. Normal hours resume on Monday, Dec. 26.

Orange County Construction and Demolition Landfill and all associated services such as mulch sales will be CLOSED Dec. 24 through Dec. 26. Normal hours will resume on Dec. 27.

New Year’s Schedule:

Solid Waste and Recycling Centers will be closed Jan. 1. Normal hours resume Monday Jan. 2.

Orange County Construction and Demolition Landfill and all associated services such as mulch sales and the Solid Waste Administrative Office will be closed Jan. 2. Normal hours resume Tuesday, January 3.

Senior Centers

The Passmore Center will be closed from 5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 22 through Tuesday, Dec. 27. It will reopen on Dec. 28. It will be closed on Monday, Jan. 2.

 

The Seymour Center will be closed from Friday, Dec. 23 through Tuesday, Dec. 27 and again on Monday, Jan. 2.
