ORANGE COUNTY SEEKING VOLUNTEERS TO ASSIST WITH 2017 TAX SEASON

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (October 31, 2016)—The Orange County Volunteer Connect 55+ VITA program is in need of volunteers to assist low to middle-income clients and make a difference in their lives!

VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is a free IRS service for eligible clients offered at sites in Orange and Chatham Counties. Volunteers are needed in multiple capacities including:

  • Tax Preparers
  • Intake Receptionists
  • Appointment Schedulers

Bilingual volunteer support is welcome at all levels.

VITA is a project of the Orange County Volunteer Connect 55+ program and provides free training for all assignments.  Training sessions are held between November and mid-January. Most positions require 2-4 hours of training. Depending on the level of tax knowledge, training for preparers can vary (generally 20 or more hours).
