Orange County Announces Todd McGee as Community Relations Director
ORANGE COUNTY, NC (September 13, 2016) -- Orange County named Todd McGee as the Director of Community Relations.
As Community Relations Director, McGee will lead, direct and coordinate the County’s communications programs and strategies from marketing services and projects to crisis communications during times of disasters. The Community Relations Director functions as the chief spokesperson and media contact for County operations. This position reports to the County Manager.
McGee has worked for the past 15 years with the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners (NCACC), most recently as the Public Relations Director. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree from N.C. State University in Communications. During his work with NCACC, McGee aggressively used social media and video to share information. He has written regular articles for the NCACC monthly newspaper, “CountyLines”. Content of the NCACC website is updated under his direction. McGee has also served as President of the N.C. Association of Government Information Officers and President of the National Association of County Information Officers.
Orange County Manager Bonnie Hammersley is enthusiastic about the selection. “With Todd’s experience, public outreach and communications will go to the next level,” Hammersley said. “We are excited to have someone with Todd’s local, state and national background joining the Orange County team.”
McGee’s start date as the Director is October 10, 2016.
