ORANGE COUNTY TO HOST JOB FAIR IN CHAPEL HILL

 ORANGE COUNTY, NC (September 7, 2016) — The Orange County Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Skills Development/NCWORKS Career Center encourages members of the community to print their resume, dress for success and prepare to make a positive impression with more than 75 potential employers planning to participate in an upcoming Job and Resource Fair.

The event will take place on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at University Place located at 201 S. Estes Drive in Chapel Hill (formerly University Mall).

This event is an excellent opportunity for employers to meet potential employees with a variety of skill sets, from experienced professionals to talented entry level individuals. Orange County’s goal is to provide a Job Fair where each employer leaves with several possible candidates for hire.

The Job and Resource Fair will be open to the public and door prizes will be awarded. Please visit www.ncworks.gov for assistance with resume building, interview tips and a host of other useful job search topics. Please be sure to register on NCWorks.gov, prior to September 21, 2016.  

For assistance with registering on NCWorks.gov, please visit the DSS office in Hillsborough or the NCWorks Career Center at 503 West Franklin Street in Chapel Hill.

The Mobile Vet Center out of Greensboro, NC will be on site to meet with any and all veterans that are seeking employment. Representatives will help veterans identify jobs targeted specifically for them, write resumes and etc. In addition to employment assistance they will also be available to assist with counseling services for Veterans and their families. 

This marks the eight community Job Fair sponsored by DSS.  During the April 6, 2016 event, more than 98 employers served 253 residents who were seeking employment opportunities. 

Employers who are interested in participating in the Job Fair need to reserve their space by September 19, 2016. Booth space, parking, private offices to conduct interviews, Internet access, and lunch will be provided at no charge. Applicants will have access to a computer lab to complete online applications. A federal tax incentives seminar will be hosted for hiring managers from 8:30 a.m. - 9:30 a.m. and will include a continental breakfast.
