ORANGE COUNTY ANNOUNCES SPRING 2016 GRANTS DEADLINE

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (March 22, 2016) The Orange County Arts Commission announces a May 31, 2016, deadline for receipt of grant applications for the spring cycle. Arts grants are available to nonprofit organizations, schools and individual artists.

Spring Arts Grant categories are as follows:

General Arts Support Grant – funds up to $5,000 available to Orange County nonprofit arts organizations (whose primary purpose is to create, produce, present, or support music, dance, theatre, literature or visual arts) that consistently provide high-quality arts programs. To apply, organizations must have received an Orange County Arts Commission grant in each of the three previous years.

Arts Program Grant - funds up to $1,500 to nonprofit organizations coordinating arts projects benefiting the citizens of Orange County

Arts in Education Grant - funds up to $1,000 to public or private schools or parent/teacher organizations in Orange County coordinating arts programs

Arts in Education Coalition – funds up to $5,000 to a coalition of three or more public or private schools, or parent/teacher organizations in Orange County coordinating arts programs

Artist Project Grant - funds up to $1,000 to professional artists coordinating arts projects benefiting the citizens of Orange County

Information Session: The Orange County Arts Commission will hold a free grant writing workshop on Monday, April 4, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. in Meeting Room C at the Chapel Hill Public Library(100 Library Drive) in Chapel Hill.

Spring Grants Project Period: The spring 2016 grant cycle funds arts activities taking place from July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017.  A fall cycle will also be available for all categories except General Arts Support, which is available annually.

Supportable Projects: Applicants may request funds to support a variety of arts programs in the visual, performing, and literary arts. 

Deadline: Spring applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, at the Orange County Arts Commission office located at 131 W. Margaret Lane (Room 216) in Hillsborough (this is not a “postmarked by” deadline).  

Applications: Applications are available at the Arts Commission office, at all Orange County Public Libraries, at the Chapel Hill Public Library and online for downloading at www.artsorange.org
