ORANGE COUNTY INVITES PUBLIC COMMENT ON TRANSPORTATION GOALS
ORANGE COUNTY, NC (February 18, 2016)—The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) is inviting all residents to comment on the MPO’s draft Goals.
These Goals will drive policy and project decision-making in the future. For those who have participated in past public events, the MPO welcomes the continued involvement.
There are four options for participating and sharing comments:

- Email your comments to the committee
Residents can stop by the Durham Station Transportation Center any time from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 17, to speak directly with staff about the Goals or any transportation topic. The center is located at the corner of W. Pettigrew Street and W. Chapel Hill Street in Durham.
4. Public Hearing
Residents are encouraged to provide feedback directly to local elected officials (DCHC MPO Board); Wednesday, March 9, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. The public hearing will take place in the Committee Room (2nd Floor of Durham City Hall, 101 City Hall Plaza). Persons with disabilities will be accommodated -- provisions must be requested at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.
About the DCHC MPO
The Durham-Chapel Hill-Carrboro Metropolitan Planning Organization (DCHC MPO) is the regional planning organization that is responsible for planning and programming state and federal transportation projects in the urbanized areas of Durham, Orange and Chatham counties.
The DCHC MPO develops and manages the Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) for the region. The 2045 MTP will identify transportation projects (highway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit) out to the year 2045. The Goals will guide the development of the 2045 MTP and also the transportation policies that are adopted by the MPO.
The public comment period on the MPO Goals will be from Friday, February 12, 2016, through Friday, April 1, 2016.
