ORANGE COUNTY TO CLOSE OFFICES IN OBSERVANCE OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. DAY

ORANGE COUNTY, NC (January 13, 2016)—Orange County will close its administrative offices on Monday, January 18, in observance of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

The County offices will re-open and all employees will return on Tuesday, January 19, and resume regular business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. However, exceptions apply to the following County departments or services.

Library
The Orange County Public Library’s Main Library, Carrboro Branch and Cybrary will be closed on Monday, January 18. All three locations will re-open on Tuesday, January 19.

Animal Services
The Animal Services facility will be closed on Monday, January 18.  All 9-1-1 calls for emergency animal control services will be answered on dates the Animal Services Center is closed. The after-hours drop location will also be open and checked daily throughout the holidays.

Chapel Hill/Orange County Visitors Center will be closed on Monday, January 18.

Health Department
The Orange County Health Department will be closed on Monday, January 18. Regular clinic hours and administrative functioning will resume on Tuesday, January 19. Meantime, please call 9-1-1 in case of an emergency or to report a communicable disease.

Parks
There is no Open Gym at Central Recreation Center on Monday, January 18. Little River Regional Park will be open from 8:00 a.m.  – 5:00 p.m.

Senior Centers
The Seymour Center and the Central Orange Senior Center will be closed on Monday.

Orange Public Transportation (OPT)
Administrative and dispatch offices will be closed on Monday, January 18. OPT will operate limited service serving the in-county dialysis route only (Carolina Dialysis). Full service will resume Tuesday, January 19.

In order to provide two working day notice for scheduling trips, requests for Tuesday, January 19, must be received by 3:00 p.m. Thursday, January 14. Trip requests for Wednesday, January 20, must be received by 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 15.

Recycling, Landfill, and Waste and Recycling Centers
Curbside recycling will be collected as normally scheduled on Monday, January 18.  Please place recycling bins or cart curbside by 7:00 a.m.

Waste and Recycling Centers, the Orange County Construction and Demolition Landfill (and all associated services, such as mulch sales) and the Solid Waste Administrative office will all be CLOSED on Monday, January 18.  Regular hours will resume on Tuesday.
